My Journey to Publication

This is a speaking engagement for book clubs and other interested groups. Sara will talk about the beginnings of her writing and publishing journey as well as her published works to date. Includes packets with a sheet on each novel, readings, and, depending on size of group and time of booking, swag “goodie” bags for each attendee.

Characterology

A class all about characters! Developing backstory and profiles! This workshop discusses the importance of character development, where characters come from, and includes exercises to help writers delve into their chosen character a bit more and in a direction they may not expect. Worksheets included.

Planning and Balancing in Writing

There is much balance to be found: physical balance (with ergonomics), balance in your schedule (through effective planning), and balance in your writing goals. This workshop is all about finding where those points of balance are and teaching techniques to maintain them. There are practical examples of all and worksheets.

Plotting Workshop

A working workshop. Participants will work with a character to plot out backstory and sketch out a basic outline for the character’s arc for the novel. This is more intense and intended for a smaller class size. Can be combined with Characterology class for a serious character development day.

Romancing the Reader

Romance is the most popular genre of fiction, by far. Period. It is important that we consider a few key things as we approach writing romance and, more importantly, think about romance readers.

This class will cover basic tips on writing in this genre as well as more thoughtful practical advice on writing contemporary and historical clean romance.

The list continues to grow and she is able and willing to tailor a program to your event.
